Cece’s First Birthday!

My long time friend Sue was back in town for a couple of days along with her whole family. She’s a family friend that I hadn’t seen since she moved out to San Francisco 2 years ago. Well it just so happened it was her nieces first birthday. Sue approached me to see if I would be available for some photos and then a good catching up session. I made some time for an old friend and I was glad I did!

Cece is adorable and loved being in front of the camera. She was also running around and dancing anytime there was music being played. She opened presents and even cut her own cake! It was a great way to spend a Sunday.

Israel

Sebastian here – I just got back from Israel and wanted to share some photos. Israel was a pleasant surprise for me… I travel a LOT and am slowly getting used to trouble navigating around, poor food choices, sketchy hotels… you name it and I have probably encountered it. While those probably DO exist in Israel, I didn’t encounter any of those. I found it quite easy to get around, the food was reasonably priced and VERY tasty, and there were so many little boutique shops and cafes I could easily see myself finding a new place each day if I lived there.

My journey (and I mean journey… the trip there was neither short nor without massive security checkpoints) began when I got dropped off in Madrid on a 6 hour layover and wandered around the vacant airport eventually finding a place to sleep on a slab of marble.

Mira turns one!

Recently my good friends approached me for some photos of their daughter on her first birthday. I was very happy to help out and I think we got some really cute shots of Emily Mira!

We started off around their house and over the course of a few different sessions we made it outside at a local botanic gardens. It’s 50 acres was a great place for some pictures but we had to hurry up to beat the rain. Just as we left it started to drizzle, perfect timing.

Jina & Giogio pre-wedding

I met Giogio a couple years ago through a mutual friend. I recently found out he was getting married when they contacted us and wanted to get some shots to display at their wedding in China. We had a short time frame to work with so we threw some ideas around. The weather all week looked real bad. We crossed our fingers and hoped that the weather would cooperate. It wasn’t looking good and we were scrambling to find an indoor location.

The morning of the scheduled shoot the forecast definitely showed rain but the skies were clear. I made quick phone call in the morning to keep the same plans and we were off to take some photos. From that point on, it couldn’t have gone smoother!

Teaser – Nancy

We were given the opportunity to photograph a friend of ours on a lazy Sunday.  Nancy wanted to do a fun and goofy session so we headed over to a friend’s house for a bit – finally getting a chance to revisit these pictures and for now here is a teaser.  More to come in a bit!

Rohrback Wedding

Shortly after attending the Levin wedding I had another good friend having a wedding in the same month. I attended this as a guest and brought the camera along to capture some of the fine moments in store for the weekend in upstate New York by Keuka Lake.

I first became friends with Chris from playing ice hockey together and then from building cars together. I started hearing about a mystical girl who he called his girlfriend who would put up with him and his cars, smart, pretty and to top it off, she was living in Japan. At the time this all seemed pretty implausible. The first time I really got to hang out with her was at a Formula 1 race in Indianapolis in 2006. I knew then that they were good for each other.

The night before the wedding we had a big gathering at the lakehouse with close friends and family and enjoyed a delicious pig roast along with a great fireworks show done by Chris’ father. Chris even brought Shinerbock from Texas for all to enjoy!

Levin Wedding

Not too long ago we were both fortunate enough to attend a wedding in San Diego to watch two of our very close friends get married.  The pictures below chronicle the weekend’s activities and show the thought that went into the decorations everywhere.

The weekend began with a dinner for both families, catered by a local taco truck that everyone seemed to enjoy.  After dinner we all took our aim at a piñata decorated like the bride and groom and dawned funny black mustaches while writing well wishes to the future bride and groom.  The mustaches were such a hit!  Everyone wore them out to Pizza Port for a few beers before the big day, and the bartenders there got such a laugh out of them that they stuck one behind the bar.

Eli August

A few weeks ago we shot some promotional work for a local songwriter/singer named Eli August.  Eli is a mutual friend of another band we know and came to us with a great idea to pull together some of his inspirations into some upcoming CD artwork.

Based out of Ellicott City, MD, Eli seems to be booked solid every weekend and tells us of more shows in the pipeline.  He gathers a lot of inspiration for his songwriting from literature and we were able to source 50+ hardback books into a very ethereal image set.
